Social Outings

The Club holds social events for Members and Partners several times a year. These have included guided tours of local landmarks, meals at local restaurants, coach trips and other social occasions.

 

The Social Committee welcomes suggestions from members for future social events. We're always looking for good ideas! Please contact the Social Committee Chairman via hugh_parryjones@hotmail.com if you have any suggestions, questions or would like any further information on upcoming events.

Our next social event will be a return to the Cowshed at the Wheatsheaf Inn in Raby Village for a evening meal on 5th March 2026. More details soon.

 

Recent Events

 

Our last social event was on 30th October 2025 when members and partners enjoyed a game of skittles and a meal at the Bickerton Poacher. On 25th September 2025 several members visited the Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker, an interesting place and not so secret now as there are signs to it all over Cheshire!

 

On 9th July 2025:  Over 40 members, partners and other guests had a fantastic day out on a coach trip to Ironbridge www.ironbridge.org.uk. The first stop was in the Ironbridge Gorge to view the bridge, which was erected in 1779, to potter around the museum, and visist the local cafes. We then rejoined the coach and travellled a short distance to Blists Hill Victorian Town, where we were able to "travel back in time to experience what everyday life was like in 1900." 

 

On 9th June 2025, 27 members and partners enjoyed the Royal Court Theatre Heritage Tour - a behind the scenes guided tour of this iconic and historic Liverpool Theatre. This was followed by an pub lunch at the Crown Hotel by Lime Street Station.

Past Events

 

In October 2024 the Social Committee organised a coach trip to the RAF Museum in Cosford. This was our first coach trip since before COVID and around 40 members and partners had a excellent day out - see photo above. The trip was so successful that other coach trips will be planned!

Other social events recently organised include:

  • A guided walk (mostly in the rain) around Port Sunlight village (see photo below on the left), followed by lunch at the Bridge Inn.
  • A trip to the Cheshire Military Museum (see photo below on the right), followed by lunch in Chester.
  • Annual visits to the Cowshed at the Wheatsheaf Inn in Raby Village for a evening meal.
  • Beer and skittles (and a meal) at the Bickerton Poacher.

As you can see, many (but not all!) of our Social Events include food & drink!
